POST-JAM UPDATE + PLANS


this update just fixes some issues, and tweaks a few numbers — if you already played the game during the jam, there’s nothing new to see yet.

I plan on releasing a “remastered” version later this week, so I decided to make minimal changes to the jam version in order to preserve it without leaving any glaring issues.

BUGS

  • fixed snakemeat starvation bug — edge case during grace period
  • mitigated physics issues that messed with the controls

GAMEPLAY

  • reduced hunger drain buildup over time by 20 % — it was too rough
  • reduced starvation grace period by 33 % — it was too lenient
  • removed score penalty from eating spikes — it was confusing

AUDIO

  • Saad remastered the music
  • added wall bonk sfx polyphony (1 -> 2)
  • skipped the first 0.03 seconds of silence in the eating sfx

UI

  • improved menu focus clarity
  • added a black background to the HUD
  • disabled opening the pause menu after starving
  • added a short delay before showing the “AGAIN” button

PLANS

I only had 2 days available during the jam, and even though I scoped pretty small I didn’t have time for everything I wanted to do. I’ve also received a lot of great feedback from jammers, and I’ve had some new ideas to hopefully make the game a bit more interesting.

so yeah, I’ll work on SLUFF for few more days — it’ll be decent practice, at least.
